General Comments:

1. The effort of the committee is appreciated in bringing a simplified approach to relate the operational and protection quantities and addressing the obvious limitation of the existing quantities in high energy range for various particle types.

2. While comparing the new and old conversion coefficients, the brief description provided in the document (section 4.2.2, 4.2.3 and 4.2.4) is not adequate. More detailed explanation and quantitative comparison of the two quantities should be provided for various particle types and energies. This will help to appreciate the reason for introduction of the new operational quantities.

3. The impact of implementation of new quantities on the calibration procedure is not adequately addressed. Even though it is recommended that “calibration procedure can be such as to simulate exposure of a person in rotational or isotropic exposure (Line 1226-1227)”, there is no further guideline is provided in the document on how to incorporate this in routine monitoring of area monitoring /personal dosimeters.

Specific Comments:

Line 600:  Extra closing parenthesis in Eq. 3.27 to be deleted

Line 618:  Density of ICRU 4-element soft tissue is given as 1.11 gcm-3 instead of 1 gcm-3

Line 622:  Density of ICRU 4-element soft tissue is given as 1.11 gcm-3 instead of 1 gcm-3 (line 347)

Line 622:  Missing ‘steps’ after 15 degrees

Line 718: Conversion coefficient for new quantity is given as h’lens and hp lens instead of d’lens and  dp lens, respectively

Line 720: Conversion coefficient for new quantity is  given as h’ local skin instead of d’ local skin

Line 721: Conversion coefficient for new quantity is  given as hp local skin instead of dp local skin

Line 1269-1271: Sentence required to be reframed, as the content is not properly conveyed
